On March 20, 2026, at the Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, as part of the production internship for 4th-year students of the School of Pharmacy, PhD Dr. Lashyn Nurtasovna Kiyekbayeva conducted a lecture on the topic: “Justification for the Selection of Quality Control Methods for Medicines.”
During the session, the role and significance of quality control in ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicinal products were reviewed in detail. Particular emphasis was placed on the key criteria for selecting analytical methods: sensitivity, selectivity, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
Students were introduced to modern instrumental methods of pharmaceutical analysis (HPLC, GC, UV-Vis spectrophotometry) and the specifics of their application in industrial settings. The principles of selecting procedures for the identification and quantification of active substances and impurities in various dosage forms were discussed.
The lecture covered validation of analytical procedures and their compliance with the State Pharmacopoeia of the Republic of Kazakhstan (SP RK) and international standards (GMP, ISO) in detail. The lecturer emphasized the importance of scientific justification for methods during the development of regulatory and technical documentation.
A separate section of the session was dedicated to rapid analysis methods and modern requirements for in-process control. Students learned how the correct selection of control methods helps prevent the production of non-compliant products.
The session contributed to strengthening the professional competencies of future pharmacists in the field of pharmaceutical analysis and fostered a deeper understanding of the importance of quality management systems in manufacturing.
