On May 6, 2025, the School of Pharmacy at S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University held a commemorative event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The program began with a photo gallery exhibition titled “80 Years of the Great Victory: Memory of Generations,” which featured unique historical photographs showcasing the heroic deeds of Kazakhstani soldiers — the fathers and grandfathers of the School of Pharmacy’s staff. The exhibition, located in the lobby of the second academic building, allowed participants to explore materials reflecting the bravery and resilience of our people.
A moment of silence served as a symbolic start to the main part of the gathering. It was followed by a reading of an excerpt from Robert Rozhdestvensky’s poem “Requiem,” performed by Associate Professor N.S. Omarkulova, who also moderated the event.
The Dean of the School of Pharmacy, Dr. Zuriadda Bektemirovna Sakipova, gave a heartfelt speech, emphasizing the importance of preserving the memory of the war among the younger generation.
The event also featured a documentary film about Kazakhstani heroes of the Great Patriotic War, wartime songs performed by the School of Pharmacy orchestra, and thematic presentations by both faculty members and students. One of the most touching moments was the speech by Professor Maigul Zhalelovna Kizatova, who spoke about the life of her father, Hero of the Soviet Union Zhalel Kizatov, to whom a special documentary film was also dedicated.
The event concluded with a moving performance of the song “Aliya” by student Sagymzhan Aiganym Zhanibekkyzy, followed by a group commemorative photo session.
The memory of our heroes lives on as long as we speak of them, remember them, and pass their legacy on to future generations.
