On 9 December 2025, a delegation of representatives from leading medical and pharmaceutical enterprises of Shandong Drug and Food Vocational College (China) visited the School of Pharmacy of S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University. The main purpose of the Chinese delegation’s visit was to present Shandong College and share the experience of educational and scientific practices used in a leading Chinese university. Shandong Drug and Food Vocational College, founded in 1958 and subordinate to the Shandong Administration for Market Regulation, is a state-owned junior college and one of the leading centres for training specialists in Shandong Province. The college has more than 16,700 students and over 800 teachers and staff, including renowned educators at the regional and national levels. The college offers educational programmes in 34 specialities across eight faculties, including Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Quality Management, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Medical Devices and Food Science.
During a meeting with the teaching staff, students, master’s students and doctoral students of the School of Pharmacy, the guests gave a presentation on the college. In her presentation, Associate Professor Kozhanova Kaldanai Korzhaovna, Head of the Department of Engineering Disciplines at the School of Pharmacy, spoke about the departments of the School of Pharmacy and introduced the academic, scientific and pedagogical activities and educational programmes offered at the bachelor’s, master’s and and doctoral programmes.
Teachers and staff of the School of Pharmacy gave guests a detailed overview of their educational institution: showing them modern laboratories, lecture halls, equipment and educational spaces, and demonstrating the organisation of the educational process and key departments, including pharmaceutical technology, pharmacology and pharmacognosy, clinical pharmacy, organisation, management and economics of pharmacy.
During the visit, the parties discussed opportunities for further cooperation, including the expansion of joint educational programmes, the organisation of internships and work placements for students at enterprises, the implementation of joint research projects, and the exchange of experience between teachers and specialists from Kazakh and Chinese educational institutions.
