Achievements of Students of the School of Pharmacy of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University at the International Student Olympiad in the Educational Program “Pharmacy,” Dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of Professor B.A. Sagindykova

On November 27-28, 2025, the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy (Shymkent, Kazakhstan) hosted the International Student Olympiad in the educational program “Pharmacy,” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the prominent scientist – Academician of the Asian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the International Academy of Sciences (Azerbaijan section), Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Sagindykova Bayan Akhmetovna.

The event became a significant scientific and educational platform, bringing together talented students of pharmaceutical faculties from CIS countries and creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional growth, and development of research potential among young specialists.

The competition brought together teams from leading pharmaceutical universities:

I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan);
Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Tashkent, Uzbekistan);
Two teams of the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute – “LabRangers” and “Placebo” (Tashkent, Uzbekistan);
“Astana Medical University” NJSC (Astana, Kazakhstan);
“Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University” NJSC (Almaty, Kazakhstan);
“Karaganda Medical University” NJSC (Karaganda, Kazakhstan);
“West Kazakhstan Medical University named after M. Ospanov” NJSC (Aktobe, Kazakhstan);
The host institution – “South Kazakhstan Medical Academy” JSC (Shymkent, Kazakhstan).

The high level of participant preparation and the diversity of academic schools and scientific approaches reinforced the Olympiad’s status as one of the most important student events in the pharmaceutical field of the region.

Results of the KazNMU Team

The KazNMU team – PHARM VISION – demonstrated deep professional knowledge, practical skills and the ability to quickly navigate complex pharmaceutical situations. According to the results of all stages of the Olympiad – theoretical, practical and situational-clinical – the team took 1st place and was awarded a diploma, ahead of the strongest teams from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

This achievement reflects the high quality of the educational process at the School of Pharmacy of KazNMU, where particular attention is paid to the integration of fundamental disciplines, clinical pharmacy, GMP/GDP principles, and students’ research activities.

Team Members:

Salykbayev Askhat Almatuly, a 4th–year student (FA22-004o group, EP Pharmacy), shows high research potential, contributes to the implementation of scientific projects and demonstrates a steady interest in scientific activities. For the high results demonstrated at the Olympiad, he was awarded a diploma in the Jury’s Choice nomination.
Alimzhanova Kamila Armanovna, a 4th year student (FA22-004o group, EP Pharmacy), showed analytical thinking and interest in pharmaceutical research. For his successful results at the Olympics, he was awarded a diploma in the “Fastest Mind” nomination.
Ermekzy Aliya, a 4th-year student (FA22–004k group, EP Pharmacy), is an active participant in the research work of students, who has shown a high level of responsibility and initiative.
Zhuman Jamilya Bolatkyzy, a 4th-year student (FA22–004o group, EP Pharmacy), has established herself as a responsible, disciplined and proactive student who actively participates in scientific events..

Participation in the Olympiad provided students with an opportunity to expand their professional outlook, strengthen critical thinking skills, and demonstrate their abilities within the interuniversity scientific environment.

The team’s preparation was carried out under the guidance of the Dean of the School of Pharmacy Z.B. Sakipova, the Head of Students’ Research Work of the School of Pharmacy N.A. Rakhymbayev, the Head of the “Pharmacy” educational program M.I. Tleubayeva, as well as trainers R.B. Ayupova, M.Z. Ashirov, A.D. Masakbayev, and A.E. Khamitova.

The coordinated work of the teaching staff, careful attention to the individual strengths of students, and professional mentorship were key factors in the successful performance of the team.

The victory at the International Student Olympiad is not only a personal achievement of the participants but also a clear indication that the School of Pharmacy of KazNMU is confidently shaping a new generation of specialists capable of representing Kazakhstan with dignity on the international academic stage.
