Round Table: “Integration of Education, Science, and Practice in Pharmacy. Continuity of the Educational Program in the Field of Pharmacy”

On March 28, 2025, the School of Pharmacy at S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University hosted a round table discussion on “Integration of Education, Science, and Practice in Pharmacy. Continuity of the Educational Program in the Field of Pharmacy.”

The event brought together representatives of medical colleges across the country and leading experts in pharmaceutical education. The main objective of the meeting was to integrate pharmaceutical education at colleges into the bachelor’s degree system, ensure continuity in education, and improve its quality.

Key Discussion Points:

• Analysis of the 6B10104 – “Pharmacy” educational program at KazNMU;
• Presentation of the new “Pharmacognosy” textbook for college students;
• Development and publication of educational materials on key pharmaceutical disciplines;
• Enhancing the academic qualifications of college instructors;
• Opportunities for joint scientific research in the field of pharmacy;
• Career guidance for college graduates seeking admission to a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.

During the round table, participants analyzed the current educational program, discussed ways to improve it, and explored its adaptation to international standards. The Dean of the School of Pharmacy at KazNMU, Z.B. Sakipova, emphasized the importance of harmonizing curricula, strengthening laboratory and clinical training for pharmacists, and integrating scientific approaches into the educational process.

Key Resolutions:

1. Collaboration between KazNMU and medical colleges in Kazakhstan to update the Pharmacy educational program;
2. Joint efforts to improve the quality of pharmaceutical training;
3. Collaborative development and publication of educational materials, including textbooks in the Kazakh language.

The event was attended by more than 40 representatives of medical colleges in Kazakhstan and members of the pharmaceutical community. The discussion on the integration of education, science, and practice in pharmacy will continue through working meetings and scientific research initiatives.
