At the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, on November 17, 2025, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Professor Ustenova G.O., conducted a lecture for 3rd-year students of the School of Pharmacy as part of their industrial practice. The topic of the session was “Modern Technologies of Substances and Herbal Medicinal Products.”
During the lecture, Professor Ustenova G.O. explained in detail modern approaches to the production, standardization, and quality control of plant-derived substances. She focused on the key stages of the technological process — from the selection and collection of plant raw materials to the production of finished extracts and herbal medicines.
Special attention was given to extraction methods, including maceration, percolation, and ultrasonic extraction, as well as innovative technological solutions that increase the yield of bioactive compounds and ensure the stability of finished medicinal products. Students learned about the principles of standardization of plant substances, indicators of authenticity and purity, and quality requirements for herbal raw materials.
The professor emphasized the importance of rational use of plant resources and compliance with regulatory requirements in the production of herbal medicinal products. Students also gained an understanding of modern trends in phytotechnology and the integration of innovations into pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The event became an important part of the professional training of future pharmaceutical technologists, expanding their knowledge and strengthening the competencies necessary for work in the pharmaceutical industry.
