At the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, PhD, Associate Professor Ibadullayeva G.S. conducted a lecture on the topic “Technology of Pharmaceutical Solutions” for 3rd-year students of the School of Pharmacy, majoring in “Technology of Pharmaceutical Production”, as part of their industrial practice on March 13, 2026.
During the lecture, both theoretical and practical aspects of the development and production of pharmaceutical solutions were thoroughly examined. Pharmaceutical solutions occupy an important place among dosage forms due to their versatility, ease of administration, and high bioavailability of active substances.
Special attention was given to the classification of pharmaceutical solutions. The main types of solutions were reviewed according to the route of administration: oral, topical, injectable and infusion solutions, as well as ophthalmic and nasal solutions. Differences between aqueous, alcoholic, oily, and combined solutions, their advantages, and areas of application were also discussed.
The lecture also covered the requirements for pharmaceutical solutions. It was emphasized that for parenteral forms, ensuring sterility, apyrogenicity, stability, isotonicity, and compliance with established quality standards is crucial. Parameters affecting the efficacy and safety of solutions, including pH level, clarity, absence of mechanical impurities, and microbiological purity, were examined.
Significant attention was paid to the technological stages of pharmaceutical solution production. The processes of water preparation and purification, dissolution of active and excipient substances, filtration, sterilization, filling, and capping of the final product were discussed. Features of working under aseptic conditions, as well as requirements for clean rooms, equipment, and personnel, were highlighted.
In addition, the lecture addressed modern trends in the technology of pharmaceutical solutions, including the introduction of automated systems, the use of highly efficient purification and quality control methods, and adherence to international Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
The conducted lecture allowed students to deepen their knowledge in the field of pharmaceutical solution technology, understand the importance of strict compliance with technological and regulatory requirements, and appreciate the significance of this dosage form in modern pharmaceutical practice.
