On 25 October 2025, a motivational meeting with Professor Marlen Makhmudovich Yesirkepov was held at the School of Pharmacy of S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU. The topic of the meeting was ‘Research Methodology: From Publication to Dissertation”. The event was designed for fourth-year students, postgraduate students and doctoral candidates, with the aim of enhancing their scientific training and developing their research competencies.

The speaker, Marlen Makhmudovich Yesirkepov, is a renowned researcher and academic with extensive experience in pharmaceutical sciences. He is the principal investigator and scientific supervisor of grant projects and has a Hirsch index of 20 on Scopus and 19 on Web of Science. He is also the recipient of the First President – Leader of the Nation Foundation Award in Science and Technology (2014), the “Best Scientific Worker” award (2022) and the “Best Scientist in Healthcare” award (2024).

During the meeting, the professor discussed modern approaches to planning, conducting and presenting scientific research, providing a detailed explanation of the key stages involved. He placed special emphasis on selecting the right topic, formulating goals and objectives, developing methodology, working with sources, interpreting research results and successfully completing the research. Common mistakes made by novice researchers and effective methods for improving the quality of scientific writing were also covered.

Students, master’s students and doctoral candidates were encouraged to ask questions and received valuable recommendations on effective collaboration with research supervisors, preparing for their defence and complying with dissertation requirements. Such meetings help to strengthen scientific culture among learners, develop research competencies and increase motivation for scientific growth.
