Open Curator Hour Dedicated to «March 18 – National Clothing Day»

In accordance with the order of the Dean of the School of Pharmacy, Z. Sakipova, No. Shyǵys04-01-06-24-134 dated March 11, 2026, an open curator hour dedicated to “March 18 – National Clothing Day” was held at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry. The event was attended by faculty members, students, and invited guests.

The curator hour took place within the framework of the Nauryznama decade, timed to coincide with the celebration of Nauryz, a tradition established in 2024. The focus of the event was on promoting national clothing, its harmonious combination with modern fashion trends, and the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

The hosts spoke about the content and significance of the Nauryznama decade, emphasizing that each day from March 14 to 23 carries its own educational and spiritual meaning. It was specifically highlighted that March 18 is designated as National Clothing Day.

The event was opened by curator A. Kaldybaeva, who discussed the role of national clothing in shaping national identity and its educational value. Students presented an informative presentation on Kazakh national clothing, introducing the audience to its history and unique features.

The main goal of the curator hour was to foster students’ interest in national clothing, to help them understand its spiritual value, and to cultivate a respectful attitude towards national heritage.

The program included a literary segment featuring spring-themed poetry readings, as well as a musical performance of the kyu “Balbyrauyn,” which showcased the beauty and originality of national art.

A highlight of the event was a theatrical performance of the “Syrga Salu” ritual, one of the important traditions of the Kazakh people. During the enactment, its content and symbolic meaning were fully explained, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of the educational role of national customs.

Another striking element of the event was a video prepared by the students. It demonstrated modern approaches to promoting national clothing. Using artificial intelligence technology, the faces of the group curator and students were incorporated into a fashion show format featuring national costumes. This creative project left a strong impression on the audience, with students unable to hide their joy and amazement upon seeing themselves on screen in this new format for the first time.

The event concluded with a fair. The Head of the Department, Boshkayeva A., delivered closing remarks, expressing kind wishes and guidance in honor of the Great National Holiday. Students invited Lecturer Masakbayev A. to recite the «Bata». This is a sacred Kazakh blessing, spoken by people to wish luck, health, and well-being.

The curator hour proved to be an informative and meaningful event aimed at fostering interest in national clothing, deepening understanding of its historical and cultural significance, and promoting respect for national identity. The event also clearly demonstrated how traditions can be harmoniously combined with contemporary trends.
