As part of the pre-graduation and industrial practice for 4th-year students of the educational program 6В07201 – «Pharmaceutical Production Technology» as well as 4th-year and 1st-3rd-year accelerated-track students of the educational program 6В10104 – «Pharmacy» a lecture following the thematic plans of the syllabus was held on November 17, 2025, on the topic: «Project Management in Drug Development».
The lecture was delivered by Meruert Iliyassovna Tleubaeva, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Organization, Management and Economics of Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacy.
During the lecture, the speaker thoroughly explained the fundamental principles and stages of project management in the development of pharmaceutical products. Students were introduced to the key phases of the pharmaceutical product life cycle, from idea generation and research planning to preclinical and clinical studies, registration, and market launch. Special emphasis was placed on modern project management approaches, including defining project goals, creating a work breakdown structure (WBS), managing risks, allocating resources, and evaluating project efficiency.
Meruert Iliyassovna highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration within project teams, as well as the roles of the pharmaceutical analyst and quality specialist in managing drug development projects.
During the discussion, students actively asked questions related to real challenges in project management, modern digital tools used in project administration, and prospects for applying project-based approaches in the domestic pharmaceutical industry. Typical risks encountered during the development of new dosage forms and strategies for their mitigation were reviewed.
The lecture contributed to deepening students’ professional knowledge in project management and helped them appreciate the importance of a comprehensive approach in the development of medicinal products. The event also supported the formation of practical competencies, the development of analytical thinking, and the strengthening of motivation for further professional growth in the pharmaceutical field.
