EDUCATIONAL AND METHODOLOGICAL WORK

The department trains students, undergraduates and doctoral students in the specialties “Pharmacy” and “Pharmaceutical Production Technology” in the state and Russian languages.

The department employs gradual methods and actively uses innovative teaching methods that are practice-oriented in nature: case stages, problem-based learning, team-oriented learning, business, role-playing games, brainstorming method, group discussion method, portfolio, combined survey, small group teaching methods, simulation technologies, presentations, laboratory work. Innovative teaching methods are characterized by maximum approximation to the description of professional situations and make it possible to most effectively develop the professional skills of a future specialist and make students responsible for the results of the learning process.

Problem-based learning (PBL) has been introduced over the past five years; case-based learning (CBL), team-based learning (TBL); training based on simulation technologies.

The disciplines of study reflect current issues in medicine and pharmacy, while the list of offered elective disciplines changes in connection with the requirements of the modern labor market. New elective courses are being developed taking into account the wishes and suggestions of employers. At meetings with employers, issues of employer participation in the formation of EP, participation in the certification of graduates, solving problems of advanced training of pharmaceutical workers, implementation of dual training (guest lectures, on-site classes at pharmaceutical bases, etc.) are discussed.

Currently, the department is introducing the principles of “Learning through research”, which allows students to combine the educational process and research activities through research work within the framework of the educational program. At the undergraduate level, 40-50% of students are engaged in scientific work as part of the activities of scientific circle of the department. Lifelong learning is the professional responsibility of students to continually develop their knowledge and skills through performance assessment, audit, and review of their practice.

Graduates undergo further master’s and doctoral studies, advanced training to maintain, update, develop and improve their knowledge, skills and attitudes in response to needs, and receive additional higher education.

The staff prepares syllabuses, methodological recommendations, and a list of examination questions in the disciplines of the department in a timely manner.

Educational work is carried out by the teaching staff at KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov. Some practical classes and student’s independent work are conducted in accordance with the dual education program and concluded agreement at practical base – Institute of Botany and Phytointroductione.
