The scientists of the department presented their achievements in the following scientific developments:
1. Semisynthetic antibiotic of betalactam series
2. Penicillinacylase enzyme
3. Cephalosporinase enzyme produced by the depth method
4. Therapeutic and prophylactic toothpaste “Kazdent”
Penicillin antibiotics are a large pharmacological subgroup of beta-lactam antibacterial drugs, which are a priority area of applied and basic research.
According to WHO, the topic of serious shortage of new antibiotics under development to combat the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance is a hot topic. The latest WHO opinion dated 25.02.2017 emphasises the urgent need to intensify work on new antibiotics for medical use to address the problem of antibiotic resistance.
Synthesis of new pharmaceutical substances using penicillinacylase enzyme is a new research direction of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Botany.
For the first time, a new compound of semi-synthetic origin, a penicillin antibiotic with a wide spectrum of action, has been developed.
As you know, the main problems that consumers have are the presence of expensive imported pharmaceutical substances, that is, the risks associated with imports, high prices and the lack of domestic manufacturers.
This substance will be presented at the Commercialization Reactor in 2025.
In 2024, projects are planned for grant funding in the direction of creating new pharmaceutical substances and on the topic “Biophysical methods for structuring drugs.”
The department has developed a new cough syrup and medicinal lozenges based on Hypericum perforatum.
