Online Master Class of the School of Pharmacy Journal Club with an Elsevier Representative

On 12 October 2026, from 16:00 to 17:00, the School of Pharmacy Journal Club will host an online master class featuring Sergey Varnavsky, Candidate of Chemical Sciences and Director of the Life Sciences Department at Elsevier for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. Participants will be able to join the event from the Phytotheque, Room 224, Academic Building No. 1.

The master class will cover two current topics:

“The Further Journey of a Scientific Article: How Publications Become Part of the Global Scientific System”

Participants will learn what happens to a scientific article after publication, how research results become integrated into the global scientific information environment, and how scientific publications contribute to the dissemination and further use of research findings.

“Interaction of Artificial Intelligence with Scientific Literature: Limitations of PDF Document Analysis and Ways to Overcome Them”

The session will address current opportunities for using artificial intelligence when working with scientific literature, the limitations associated with analysing full-text publications in PDF format, and possible approaches to overcoming these limitations.

The master class will be useful for doctoral students, master’s students, early-career researchers, and everyone involved in scientific research, manuscript preparation, and working with contemporary scientific literature.

We invite everyone interested to participate in the online master class of the School of Pharmacy Journal Club!
