Lecture and master class held as part of the pre-graduation internship for fourth-year students of the pharmaceutical production technology educational programme

As part of the pre-graduation internship for fourth-year students enrolled in the Pharmaceutical Production Technology educational programme, the department of pharmacognosy with a course in botany held a lecture and a master class addressing current issues in ensuring the quality of medicinal plant raw materials in accordance with GACP requirements and preserving the biodiversity of medicinal plants in Kazakhstan.

On October 13, 2026, a lecture entitled “Specifics of storage, transportation and labelling of medicinal plant raw materials in accordance with GACP requirements” was delivered by A. E. Khamitova in lecture room 4 of academic building No. 7.

During the lecture, students learned about the fundamental GACP requirements, the specific aspects of storing, transporting and labelling medicinal plant raw materials, and the principles of maintaining their quality and safety at all stages of handling.

On October 14, 2026, a master class entitled “Biodiversity of Medicinal Plants Listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as Rare and Endangered Species” was held. The speaker was Aibek Kaplanbekovich Dzhiyenbekov, PhD and research fellow at the Institute of botany and phytointroduction.

The master class addressed the conservation of rare plant species in Kazakhstan, the protection of flora, and the importance of medicinal plants in maintaining regional biodiversity. Students had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of rare flora conservation and ask the expert questions of interest to them.

The events contributed to the development of students’ professional competencies, the consolidation of their theoretical knowledge, and the formation of a responsible attitude towards the conservation of natural resources. Combining the lecture and master class made it possible to connect issues related to the quality assurance of medicinal plant raw materials with the rational use and conservation of medicinal plants.
