The Department actively conducts research activities aimed at advancing pharmaceutical science, implementing modern scientific approaches, and enhancing the research potential of its staff and students.
Scientific field of the Department: research and development of medicinal products based on raw materials of natural origin.
The research activities of the teaching staff are closely integrated with educational and methodological activities and are aimed at addressing the following objectives:
- ensuring the scientific and methodological quality of the content of the full range of disciplines and courses included in the curriculum, based on the latest achievements and results of theoretical and applied research;
- enhancing the pedagogical skills of the teaching staff and improving the quality of student education;
- creating conditions for students to gain independent research experience in the professional fields they have chosen.
The main forms of research activities undertaken by the teaching staff include:
- conducting research projects;
- preparing scientific articles and conference presentations;
- providing scientific consulting;
- conducting scientific review and editing of materials prepared for publication;
- testing methodological provisions and implementing them in practice.
Each year, the Department’s staff participate in competitions and research projects carried out within the framework of programs of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as in University internal grant competitions. The results of the staff’s research activities are reflected in publications in national and international scientific journals, intellectual property assets, including patents and copyright registration certificates, as well as presentations at national and international scientific and practical conferences.
In 2026, N.A. Rakhimova, assistant at the Department, became a winner of the Zhas Galym grant competition with the research project entitled «Innovative methods for the extraction of pectin from Cotoneaster fruits for the pharmaceutical industry», to be implemented in 2026-2028.
The Department also annually participates in organizing international scientific and practical conferences, including «Priorities of Pharmacy and Dentistry: from theory to practice» and «Zhasyl Farmatsiya (Green Pharmacy)».
In addition, the Department organizes an International Olympiad in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, aimed at developing students’ professional knowledge, practical skills, and scientific interest.
The scientific activities of the Department constitute an important component of the training of highly qualified specialists and contribute to the development of pharmaceutical science in Kazakhstan, the expansion of international cooperation, and the integration of modern scientific developments into the educational process.
