As part of its educational and preventive outreach efforts, the Department of Pharmacognosy, in collaboration with the Botany course, organized an event focused on preventing students from becoming involved in destructive religious movements and on enhancing students’ knowledge of religious studies and legal literacy. The event was attended by staff from the dean’s office, the student affairs department, and the faculty of the department.
The head of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Botany, Professor Galiya Sayakova, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of fostering in students stable value orientations, critical thinking, and a responsible attitude toward issues of spiritual security in modern society.
During the event, Nargiz Rakhimova, an assistant professor at the department, spoke, noting the significance of systematic preventive work among young people, the need for interagency cooperation and support for students in matters of social and spiritual adaptation, and also highlighted issues of collaboration between academic group advisors, faculty, and educational support services in the context of individualized student support. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of creating an educational environment focused on developing critical thinking, civic responsibility, and sustainable values among students.
Representing the Dean’s Office, Aynur Baytaeva participated in the event, presenting an informational session on the prevention of religious extremism, the legal aspects of ensuring student safety, and support mechanisms for at-risk students.
The meeting included consultative discussions, deliberations on current issues, and the development of recommendations for further student support and the strengthening of preventive measures. The event contributed to raising student awareness, strengthening interagency cooperation, and fostering a sustainable preventive environment at the university.
